Hi,

Looking for a bait for Barbel and Carp, spend a lot of time fishing on the Hampshire Avon with fair results. I need to change baits from pellets, as they breakdown too quickly. Bait placement and stealth are critical, so need a bait I can leave in place. Also, needs to be winterised and have a good food profile, as want to establish and use it throughout the year.

Cheers

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Our Super Indian will do the business mate. You can have it winterised too.

Absolutely awesome for Carp and Barbel, an excellent food source, and good long term - if you want to establish a bait this is a good one.

ATB Steve.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for that, thats based on the superaminos is not? Sounds like a good starting point, though may want to tweak it a bit.

Cheers

Kevin

It is mate. If you used it as standard you'd have a very good season.

For the tweaking, what did you have in mind? We offer probably the most flexible bait making service out there, so all things are possible. Well, within reason :D

I want to increase the density and add to the flavour/enhancer profile. The squid flavour and enhancer and maybe squid meal, if possible.

Ok Kevin, Squid Meal is a lovely high protein additive, and to increase the density we will use some fine oyster shell.

Squid flavour's great, but what do you mean by an enhancer? Maybe some N-Butyric Acid?

Steve.

Hi Steve,

All sounds ok, by enhancer I was thinking of something non-oil based. For cold weather, uncomfortable with too much oil, which is why I wanted to go for winterized version. However, still can't get my head round why meat works so well on the river in low temperature, given its fat content.

Cheers

Kevin

Ok Kevin, well Fish Meals contain fat/oil, so does Robin Red, and so does bulk fish oil.

Our Fish Meals are low in fat/oil. Generally the lower protein content fish meals are high in fat/oil and vice versa. Ours are high protein, low oil fish meals.

With the inclusion of bulk fish oil, like salmon oil or noddoil, we use a maximum of 30ml per 6 eggs - which is roughly 3%. Very low anyway, and a very important part of your bait.

Robin Red is a naturally greasy product. If you've ever used it in its raw form, it's bloody horrible. I think a lot of people focus on reducing oil content for winter, and don't consider how oily this stuff is.

So, enough of my waffle - suffice to say you don't need an 'enhancer' in with your bait. You could use an emulsifier, but the benefits are arguable. I would just use the bait as is and you'll do well.

Provide them with a good food, and ideally better than everyone else's and you're laughing.

Hope this helps?!?!?!

Hello mate,

If you could give me some more info on the lake it would help a lot.

Size of the lake, stocking density, lakebed info, is it weedy? Please give as much info as you can.

Cheers, Steve.
